Recently, more and more couples are interesting on aerial wedding videography for their wedding video highlight reel.
I am guessing many couples have questions about the aerial wedding videography in Melbourne.
Do we need aerial or drone wedding videography on the wedding day?
It depends.
Aerial wedding videography or drone wedding videography offers a very unique and unusual capturing angle for the couples’ wedding day. The stunning footage will let the couple believe it is a good investment.
However, not all the venues and locations in Melbourne are allowed the aerial or drone. There is very detailed restriction of aerial wedding videography in Melbourne from Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of Australia and National park Victoria.
Normally, the price range for aerial wedding videography is $400 -$800 on the top of your normally wedding videography packages in Melbourne.
However, if the couple want to add the drone wedding videography on the top of the wedding videography packages. I will suggest the couple extend the normal photography and videography for the wedding day. The reason is the drone operator needs to make the space empty and it will waste some time on that.
First, every national park in Victoria is forbidden the drone operator to have any shoot in there. Some wedding venues in most popular parks in Melbourne, such as Albert Park, Dandenong mountain, are forbidden to have drone shots.
These venues are forbidden to have drone video shooting because the Park Victoria regulation. The Park Victoria needs to protect wild animals and birds.
Secondly, the operator can check the restriction from CASA from the APP called OPENSKY.
The APP will check the area restrictions from CASA by using the drone operator current address.
Last but not least, the Drone operator needs to check the weather using the APP called UAV Forecast. The APP will show the operator exactly windy condition, if the weather is too windy, the APP will show the warning on it. It means it not safe enough to fly the drone.
The Drone Operator MUST FOLLOW:
1, The drone operator only can operate one drone at the same time
2, The drone operator needs fly your drone within sight. It is means:
– The drone only can use in the daylight time
– The drone operator needs to avoid flying in cloud, fog or heavy rain
– The drone operator can check the operating drone with your own eyes at all times — not allowed to check the drone through binoculars or video screen
– The drone is not allowed to fly behind buildings, trees or anything else that blocks the sights.
The Drone Operator MUST NOT:
1, the drone flied higher than 120 m above the ground level
2, Over or above people or cars at any time or height
3, the drone flied less 30 m close to persons
4, in a way that may create a damage to another person, aircraft or property
5, near emergency situations (check through OPENSKY)
6, The Drone flied in prohibited or restricted airspace (check through OPENSKY)
7, 5.5 km close the airport or airfield
8, close the helicopter landing site
Every couple wants the wedding day is unforgettable and safe. If the couple choose the aerial wedding videography, the safety issue is need be checked at the first consideration.
From the Melbourne wedding videographer point of view, I suggest the couple get marry on Yarra Valley, Homestead or Golf Club consider the aerial wedding videography. If the couple booked the venues in Melbourne CBD, Dandenong Range or Alert Park, I will suggest the couple do not invest the money on the aerial shooting.
